The West Haymarket area, a new development area near downtown Lincoln, is currently under construction. Plans for the new area include a new civic arena, community plaza, hotels, retail space, and parking spaces. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) of Artists is being sought for public art for three locations in this new development. The first is the plaza space in the foreground of the new arena. The second has two spaces for public art - a wall section and a bulkhead section in the arena lobby. The third location is a streetscape.
The deadline to submit for the RFQ is April 13. A stipend will be awarded to selected artists to submit a Request for Proposals due by June 8. These public art projects are anticipated to be completed by autumn of 2013. The current budget for public art exceeds $1,000,000.

Attention Lincoln Artists! The Lincoln Arts Festival wants YOU!
In the last days of September, for one fine fall weekend out of the year, more than 100 artists come together in the capital city to show their art in a fun and festive atmosphere. Usually, one in three is a local or regional artist. This year, we think you might like to join us. We ordered up fine weather, great music and huge crowds. This year's Lincoln Arts Festival will be September 22 and 23.
Beginning Monday, February 6, visit www.zapplication.org for more information on our festival (and many others) and to get an application. If you've never sold in the festival setting before, apply for our Emerging Artist position. The submission window will be open for several months, but don't let the opportunity to have a great time sharing and selling your art pass you by.

For 34 years the Lincoln Arts Council has produced the Mayor's Arts Awards for the Mayor and city of Lincoln. This year, winners in fourteen categories will be honored at a banquet on June 6, 2012 on the Lied Center main stage, and each will receive an actual work of art as part of their recognition.
We would like you to consider making the fourteen works of art.
It would be difficult to find a more prestigious local showcase for your work than this annual celebration of Lincoln's best artists, arts organizations, art consumers and art related funders. Plus, the work of art awards will be proudly displayed in the homes of the winners. You would also join the exclusive group of artists who have done awards in the past, artists such as Rob Hillestad, Carol DeVall, Keith Jacobshagen, and Ted Kooser.
