Cinderella ballet

Join the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company (LMBC) as it presents "Cinderella," at McDonald Theatre on the Nebraska Wesleyan University campus. The cast of Cinderella is made up local dancers selected by audition. The role of Cinderella will be danced by Rachel Dowd, a senior at Lincoln Southwest. Guest Artist, Adrian Fry, of Ballet West, will perform the role of the Prince. The wicked stepsisters will be played by Robert Wamsley and Michael Corner, who are well-known to Lincoln theater audiences. The artistic director of the Lincoln Midwest Ballet Company's Cinderella production is Shari True and the ballet mistress and the choreographer is Racheal Hummel.

The LMBC's production of Cinderella is a unique opportunity for more than 70 dancers from southeastern Nebraska to be involved in a professional-quality ballet performance, and the classic fairy tale is sure to delight audiences of all ages.

The ballet is based on Charles Perrault's classic fairy tale and will be danced to the music of Sergei Prokofiev. Cinderella lives with her wicked stepsisters, until a beggar (who reveals herself to be a fairy godmother) comes, and rewards Cinderella by giving her a coach and turning her into a princess. At the ball, Cinderella falls in love with the prince. She stays only until midnight, when the spell wears off. But, she leaves her glass slipper behind, which the prince uses to find her again and they live happily ever after.
